If you’ve seen the name Pokémon Pokopia popping up online and wondered what this new Pokémon title is all about, you’re definitely not alone. Pokémon Pokopia, which is set to release on March 5th for the Nintendo Switch 2, is a new life-sim set within the Pokémon universe that has sparked curiosity among fans thanks to its distinctiveness from other Pokémon games.
Rather than going the traditional route in a region focused purely on gyms and battles, Pokopia is set in a somewhat darker and destroyed version of the Kanto region. You take on the role of a Ditto who takes the shape of a human with the goal of building up the world around you and attracting new Pokémon friends.

A Fresh Kind of Pokémon Setting With Some New Faces
Game Freak, The Pokémon Company, and developer Koei Tecmo (known for Dynasty Warriors and Ninja Gaiden) have shared some cool details about Pokémon Pokopia. Professor Tangrowth, who will aid the player in the game, is a uniquely styled professor-Pokémon with glasses.
On top of Tangrowth, several new Pokémon variants in the game have been revealed. These include “Peakychu”, a pale version of Pikachu with droopy ears, “Smearguru”, a vibrant Smeargle that appears to paint masterpieces using its tail, and “Mosslax”, a Snorlax covered in moss and topped with a flower.
Pokémon Pokopia represents yet another evolution in how Pokémon stories can be told. It shows that the franchise doesn’t always need battles and competition to stay engaging. Whether you’re an old-school Pokémon fan or a newer entrant into the universe, Pokopia looks like it is going to be a quality title for the series that is worth checking out.
What do you think about Pokopia? Do you like the expansion of the Pokémon gaming universe?
