MapleStory M is officially making its way to Steam, giving PC players a new way to experience the beloved 2D side-scrolling MMORPG. Originally designed for mobile, the game captures the charm and nostalgia of the classic MapleStory (originally released in 2003) universe while adding updated mechanics built for faster progression and long-term play.
For longtime fans of the Nexon classic, this Steam release is a chance to rediscover Maple World on a bigger screen. MapleStory M stays true to its roots with colorful pixel graphics, lively towns, quirky NPCs, and the signature side-scrolling combat the franchise is known for. Players can choose from a wide range of jobs, including Warrior, Magician, Thief, Pirate, and Archer, each offering unique skills and playstyles. Deep character customization options allow you to personalize everything from hairstyles to outfits, making every character feel distinct.

Currently, a MapleStory M Demo is available on steam to play. Functionally, there is no gameplay difference between the Demo and Full versions. Progress made in the Demo carries over completely once the Full version launches. However, paid purchases are not available in the Demo build. Once the Full version releases, the Demo will no longer be playable, though it will remain in your Steam library until manually uninstalled.
In terms of system requirements, Maplestory M Steam / PC is playable on most modern computers. Minimum specs include Windows 7, an i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an 8600GT graphics card with DirectX 10 or higher. Recommended specs suggest Windows 10, an i7 processor, 8GB RAM, and a GTS250 GPU.
Importantly, Steam accounts are not linked directly to MapleStory M accounts. Players launch the game through Steam but log in separately via a web browser using their existing MapleStory M credentials. All character data and purchases remain tied to the MapleStory M account itself.
With co-op boss raids, guild systems, seasonal updates, and auto-battle features, MapleStory M’s Steam debut opens the door for both returning veterans and curious Steam newcomers to jump in. As a former MapleStory player myself, I would definitely recommend trying it out if you love MMOs.
