The long-awaited new Silent Hill game finally resurfaced during Sony’s annual State of Play a couple days ago, giving fans their first real look at Silent Hill: Townfall since its original 2022 teaser. The video begins with a crackling handheld TV in a dim room and quickly shifts into a preview featuring protagonist Simon Ordell and the creepy fog-filled island town of St. Amelia.
New Silent Hill Game Revealed: Silent Hill: Townfall Brings First-Person Horror to St. Amelia
Developed by Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code) and published by Konami alongside Annapurna Interactive, Silent Hill: Townfall is a full-length psychological horror experience set in Scotland in 1996. Players step into the role of Simon Ordell, a man called back to the isolated town of St. Amelia (based on a real Scottish town called St Monans) to “put things right.” He awakens in water, disoriented, muttering that he’s “woken up in the water again,” before stumbling into a town blanketed in heavy fog and unsettling silence.
Unlike previous entries, this new Silent Hill game is experienced entirely in first person. According to writer and director Jon McKellan, this perspective better supports the narrative and puzzle design while making combat feel immediate and nerve-wracking. There’s no distant camera to soften the fear – every encounter is up close and personal.
Combat appears limited but brutal. Simon can wield simple weapons like a wooden plank and a pistol, but survival often depends on stealth. A key device called the CRTV – a handheld pocket television – acts as a modern twist on Silent Hill’s iconic radio. It detects nearby threats and reveals hidden environmental interactions. Some discoveries serve as distractions, allowing players to sneak past enemies they can’t defeat directly. Once alerted, monsters relentlessly hunt you down, making evasion crucial.
Though the trailer leaves many story details mysterious, Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026 and is already available to wishlist on Steam. We’re certainly excited for a first-person Silent Hill game. What do you think of it so far? Comment below
